Liberal incumbent Gerry Sklavounos has held the seat of Laurier-Dorion, denying Quebec Solidaire co-leader Andres Fontecilla a seat in the Assemblée Nationale.
Sklavounos won 43.1 per cent of the vote. Fontecilla only took 28.2 per cent in early results.
The Liberals have held Laurier-Dorion almost steadily since 1994. The one exception was from 2004-2007, when the Parti Québecois briefly took it.
Sklavounos has been a MNA since 2007. He is the official opposition critic for sustainable development and the environment.
Fontecilla was hoping to claim Quebec Solidaire’s third seat. He has run in this riding twice before, coming in third place both times. This third time was no charm for him.
