Raptors’ forward Jonas Valanciunas charged with impaired driving

TORONTO – Jonas Valanciunas, the starting centre for the Toronto Raptors, was charged with impaired driving in Wasaga Beach.

OPP were notified of a silver car going through a drive-thru with open beer bottles visible inside the car at approximately 2:30 a.m. Monday.

Police responded and located the vehicle near Oxbow Park Road.

As a result, Valanciunas, 21, was charged. He’s scheduled to appear in a Collingwood court on April 22.

The Toronto Raptors issued a statement Monday evening, saying they are “disappointed he has put him in this situation.”

“We were made aware this morning of the incident involving Jonas Valanciunas and are disappointed he has put himself in this situation. We take this matter very seriously as we have the highest expectations for all members of our organization,” the statement read.

“At this time we are continuing to gather information and we will comment further when appropriate.”
