Langley man accused of attempted murder in court today

A man charged with attempted murder is scheduled to appear in court in Surrey today.

Andre Richard is accused of setting his family home on fire before attacking his estranged wife and teenage daughter last week.

Richard is known to police or previous domestic violence incidents.

There was a restraining order against him in effect at the time of the incident.

The 44-year old was apprehended near Fernie on Thursday.

He is facing 13 different charges, including three counts of attempted murder, and charges of arson, break and enter, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily hard and breach of recognizance.
