Halifax police look for driver of car that struck woman and toddler

HALIFAX – Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle that struck a woman and a young boy in an unmarked crosswalk on Friday morning.

Just before noon, a 65-year-old woman pushing a two-year-old boy in a stroller was struck crossing Aldergrove Drive along Herring Cove Road by a vehicle making a right-hand turn.

The woman later reported the incident to police. She suffered minor injuries, but the child was not hurt.

The driver of the car allegedly stopped, but did not get out of the vehicle, which left the area travelling inbound on Herring Cove Road.

The vehicle is described as a light-burgundy sedan driven by an elderly man accompanied by an elderly woman.

Police are asking anybody with information about the incident to contact them at 490-5016 or send an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers.
