LAKE COUNTRY, B.C. – An early morning fire was likely deliberately set, causing more than $1 million damage to a home and RV, according to fire investigators.
RCMP appears some sort of accelerant was used to start the blaze near the front of the RV in front of the home on Lang Court, off Davidson Road.
Neighbours first noticed the fire and called 911, helping to ensure the residents got out of the home safely. They also alerted surrounding homes to the blaze.
Neighbours also discovered a hedge fire at the same time down the road, which they doused with garden hoses, helping fire crews focus on the main blaze.
A BC Hydro distribution pole had live wires arcing near the south corner of the structure fire, requiring crews to wait for BC Hydro to arrive and cut power before dousing the flames on the transformer.
The blaze remains under investigation.
