WATCH: Apex Mtn. responds to lift fire

It appeared to the stranded skiers, who were left dangling 80 feet up in the air, that Apex staff were completely unaware of an engine fire.

But Apex Mountain Resort says it was notified right away and had the proper procedure to bring everyone to safety.

The mountain’s volunteer fire department was not required at all. Instead, fire extinguishers were used to suppress the small blaze.
