TORONTO — Kristin Kreuk and Jay Ryan were in downtown Toronto on Tuesday filming scenes for an upcoming episode of Beauty and the Beast.
The city’s busy Yonge-Dundas Square was standing in for New York’s Times Square, complete with yellow cabs and a fake subway entrance.
B.C. native Kreuk (Smallville) plays Catherine Chandler, a police detective who is torn between her duties and her love for Vincent Keller, a man who transforms into a beast when enraged.
New Zealand-born actor Jay Ryan plays Keller.
In one of the scenes filmed Tuesday, two police officers on horseback are alerted to Keller’s presence in the Square, forcing him to run away as the horses move closer — all while Chandler stands by and watches.
Beauty and the Beast co-star Sendhil Ramamurthy, who plays Gabe, was also on location to do scenes.
Beauty and the Beast is only weeks away from wrapping up production of its second season.
New episodes return to Showcase this summer. (In the U.S., the series airs on The CW.
