TORONTO — Sarah McLachlan has become a bona fide “pop” star thanks to a new partnership with Canada Dry.

The B.C.-based singer is promoting a reformulated diet ginger ale and raising funds for her eponymous music program for Vancouver youth.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

“When I was growing up, it was a given that we had music in our schools. These days many of these programs are not available and private lessons can be cost-prohibitive to most families,” McLachlan explained in a press release.

“With the support of Canada Dry, my dream of providing free music education will continue to become a reality for young musicians.”

The company will match donations to the Sarah McLachlan School of Music up to $30,000.
