An aggravated assault that occurred in Kelowna Sunday night has turned into a murder investigation.
Victim Dain Phillips, 51, had been severely beaten with a baseball bat by a group of people and died of his injuries in hospital Monday night.
The beating happened Sunday night at the intersection of McCurdy Road and Gibson Road.
Phillips was part of a group that was in a confrontation with another group of men.
Police say the attack wasn’t gang-related and was not random.
RCMP say preliminary evidence indicates Phillips did not provoke the attack.
