Watch above: Dramatic cell phone video shows the rescue of a construction worker on the upper floors of a Houston, Texas apartment building engulfed in flames and collapsing.
TORONTO – A construction worker was rescued from a large fire at a residential building under construction in Houston, Texas Tuesday and it was all caught on video.
The fire, which was first reported at 12:30 p.m. local time, was upgraded to a five-alarm call as firefighters struggled to bring it under control.
Surrounded by flames, the worker, who was on the upper floors of the building, is seen trying to stay a step ahead of the fire as he waits to be rescued.
As the building collapses around them, firefighters reach the man by ladder and bring him to safety.
All other workers in the building were accounted for and no injuries were reported.
The blaze sent thick, black smoke into the sky and drew hundreds of emergency personnel.
