Durham police issue warrant for suspect in alleged music fesival ticket scam

WHITBY, Ont. – Police say they have a suspect in their investigation into alleged fraud involving attempts to buy tickets for a country music festival being held this summer in southern Ontario.

Durham Region police say two people contacted them last month to say they had been defrauded of money while trying to buy tickets to the Boots and Hearts Music Festival in Clarington, east of Oshawa.

A police release says it’s alleged that a male suspect told the victims to send him money before the tickets could be provided but that the victims never received the promised tickets after forwarding the money.

Police say they believe the same suspect was being investigated in other Ontario jurisdictions for similar incidents and say he was using another person’s name to conduct illegal business dealings.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Giancarlo Iandoli, 24, of no fixed address for two counts of fraud under $5,000 and two counts of personation.
