WATCH: Climber rescued from mountain in North Carolina

TORONTO – A Black Hawk helicopter was used to rescue a mountain climber who fell near Linville Gorge in North Carolina’s Pisgah National Forest Monday afternoon.

The unidentified 23-year-old man fell almost 50-feet while climbing Shortoff Mountain, which is known for its rough terrain.

A group of people saw him fall and called for help.

The National Guard sent the helicopter up when rescuers couldn’t reach the man by foot.

When the man was finally rescued he had been clinging to a small ledge on the side of the mountain for over three hours.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital. The extent of his injuries are unknown.
