B.C. Lions centre Angus Reid announced his retirement Friday, ending a 13-season CFL career.
The six-foot-one, 305-pound Reid appeared in over 200 games over his career as well as 11 playoff contests and three Grey Cups.
“Few players have made the kind of impression both on and off the field as a member of the B.C. Lions that Angus has during his career,” Lions general manager Wally Buono said in a statement.

“He was an incredibly durable player, a tremendous leader in our dressing room and he will be missed by everyone in our organization.”
Reid, a 37-year-old native of Richmond, B.C., won Grey Cup titles with the Lions in 2006 and 2011. He was selected fourth overall in the 2001 CFL draft by the Toronto Argonauts out of Simon Fraser.
After being released during training camp, he was signed by the Montreal Alouettes before being dealt to the Lions later that season.
“I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to play the game I love in front of the most important people in my life for more than a decade,” said Reid. “I leave football with a lifetime worth of memories and as a far richer person because of the people who I have had the pleasure and honour to call teammates and coaches.”
