Police make two arrests in child pornography investigation

TORONTO – A man and a woman have been arrested and accused of making child pornography, police announced Thursday.

Matthew Wilson, 31 and Sadia Waezzadah, 28, were arrested Tuesday near Sherbourne Street and Wellesley Street East and charged with a slew of offences including possession of child pornography and sexual assault.

Police alleged some assaults happened in Toronto while others happened elsewhere in the province.

Waezzadah faces three charges including sexual assault, sexual interference and possession of child pornography.

Wilson however faces 19 charges including sexual assault, sexual interference and making, possessing and distributing child pornography.

Det. Cst. Janelle Blackadar wouldn’t specify how old the children were but did say some were under the age of 16.

Blackadar alleged Wilson met children under 16 in person and online and engaged them in “forms of sexual exploitation.”

“The Toronto police service is concerned that there may be more victims involved in this case. And we are asking the public, if anyone has any information in relation to Wilson or Waezzadah to please come forward,” Blackadar said. “Children should be able to surf the internet free from child exploitation or abuse.”

The investigation began Thursday after an anonymous tip alerted police to the alleged offences.

“Many organizations exist such as crime stoppers, cyubertip.ca and the national centre for exploited and missing children,” Blackadar said. “All of these organizations are there to assist in the reporting of child abuse both online and in person.”
