SASKATOON – Police have charged a 33-year-old man with aggravated assault in connection with a missing person investigation in Saskatoon.

Scott Russell Denny, 33, appeared in provincial court on Friday and remains in custody. He will be back in court for a bail hearing on Monday.

The charge was laid after the disappearance of 28-year-old Gregory “Myles” MacIntosh.

He was reported missing after attending a Saskatoon bar on Feb. 1.

Investigators believe MacIntosh was asked to leave the bar following a disturbance and he then boarded a pub crawl bus.

“We have enough information based on witnesses on board the bus that our officers felt comfortable laying an aggravated assault charge,” said Alyson Edwards, with the Saskatoon Police Service.

That night, police were called to an altercation between two men on the same bus at the intersection of Lorne Avenue and 8th Street East.

Numerous witnesses say one of the men was MacIntosh but when officers arrived, he had left the bus on foot.

Later that night, a 9-1-1 call reported a person had fallen into the South Saskatchewan River by the Sid Buckwold Bridge.

“We also believe that Mr. Macintosh left that scene at Lorne Avenue and 8th Street and somehow wandered onto the river ice and ended up falling in the water,” said Edwards.

The water rescue team searched the river but no one was found.

Police did locate blood evidence on the ice where the person was last seen.

Testing has confirmed it belongs to MacIntosh.
