TORONTO — Pop country superstar Shania Twain will perform a special concert this summer as part of the Prince Edward Island 2014 Founders Week.

Twain’s first performance in PEI — and her first in Atlantic Canada in 15 years — is scheduled for Aug. 30 at the Charlottetown Events Grounds.

“I’m so excited to participate in this very special anniversary event,” Twain said in a release.

Tickets, priced at $89.50 to $179.50, go on sale at 10 a.m. on March 7.

Twain’s concert is part of the 150th Anniversary of the historic 1864 Charlottetown Conference, which led to the Canadian Confederation in 1867.

Premier Robert Ghiz said he is “thrilled” to welcome the singer, who currently has a residency at Caesars in Las Vegas.
