Morning News puts media to test on ‘Sports Showdown’

Winnipeg has the Jets, the Bombers and the Goldeyes — three sports teams with plenty of hometown fans.

The city also has its fair share of sports media who battle for the sports scoop every day, but who is the expert?

It’s a question the Morning News wanted to get to the bottom of.

Global News put CJOB’s Jim Toth, the Winnipeg Sun‘s Kirk Penton and of course our very own Derek Taylor to the test.

In a Morning News three-part series, Global News sports director Joe Pascucci tested the men’s knowledge of the Olympics, Manitoba sports trivia and even a wildcard section.

So who came out on top?

After Round 1, Derek Taylor was in the lead with three points while Jim Toth and Kirk Penton were on the scoreboard with one each.
