Germany’s Carina Vogt wins inaugural women’s Olympic ski jump event

Carina Vogt of Germany won the women’s ski jump event, the first time this event has ever been held at the Olympics.

She jumped 97.5 metres in her second jump, scoring 247.4 points in total between her two jumps.

Daniela Iraschko-Stolz of Austria jumped further on the second jump, 104.5 metres, but Vogt scored higher in the judging portion. Iraschko-Stolz won silver, and France’s Coline Mattel won bronze.

Canadian Atsuko Tanaka finished in 12th place. Her teammate Taylor Henrich finished in 13th.
