TORONTO – You may not feel so guilty about snapping that narcissistic “selfie” after reading this.

Another controversial Tumblr page has surfaced online, collecting images of smartphone users who snapped images of themselves alongside homeless people.

“Selfie with a sleeping homeless man at TBell,” brags one user, who appears to be dressed up as Miley Cyrus – hair nubbins and all.

The images – some taken from Twitter and others from photo-sharing apps like Instagram – show people posing around seemingly unaware sleeping homeless people and others show users getting up close and personal with their new friend.

But “Selfies with homeless people” isn’t the first off-coloured collection of selfies.

First there was “Selfies at serious places,” which included an image of a user snapping a “radioactive selfie” at the site of the Chernobyl nuclear accident and a thumbs-up selfie taken at a Holocaust memorial.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Then came the morbid “Selfies at funerals,” which showed a collection of teens showing off their black outfits using the hashtag #FuneralSelfie.

All of the Tumblr pages were created by writer Jason Feifer.

He has also created “Models who can’t decide” – a Tumblr page dedicated to strange stock photography – and other “Internet funnies.”

According to an interview with Business Insider, Feifer likes to create the collections to ask why users post things like this to social media.

A post on the “Selfies with homeless people” page on Feb. 9 encourages angry users to donate to charities that help the homeless.
