TORONTO — Justin Bieber, currently facing an assault charge in Toronto, is not the first Bieber to find himself in Ontario’s criminal justice system.

Jeremy Bieber, 39, has spent more than four months behind bars since his son was born.

According to the Stratford office of the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General, Justin’s father was convicted of assault causing bodily harm in 1997 and sentenced to 90 days in jail and two years of probation.

He was also prohibited from owning weapons for 10 years.

Two years later, Jeremy was convicted of two counts of failing to comply with probation and sentenced to 21 days and 30 days in jail, to be served consecutively. He also got an additional two years of probation.

In 2002, Jeremy was charged again with assault causing bodily harm but the case was dismissed in January 2004.

Jeremy was with his famous son when the 19-year-old was arrested in Miami Beach on Jan. 23 on suspicion of DUI, resisting arrest without violence and driving with an expired license.

He was also with Justin less than a month earlier, on the night the pop star is accused of assaulting a limo driver on a downtown Toronto street.

And Jeremy was in the private jet with his son on Jan. 31 when, according to reports, the pilots had to don oxygen masks to avoid inhaling marijuana smoke in the cabin.

Following Justin’s arrest in Miami Beach, his father tweeted: “I can protect my kids, but I can’t protect them from you or your lies. Believe in the truth not in the lies of the enemy.”

Jeremy was only 19 when he and Pattie Mallette (then 17) welcomed Justin into the world. They split up and Jeremy went on to marry another woman, with whom he has two children — Jazmyn and Jaxon.
