Sport: Alpine Skiing

Age: 26

Hometown: Invermere, B.C.

Accomplishments:

  • Finished second in an FIS World Cup event in Sochi, 2012.
  • Finished fifth in FIS World Cup Event in France, 2012.

Interesting Fact: He had no coach, no team and no sponsors as a young skier. For several years, while he tried to rise through the world rankings, he worked many odd jobs in the construction and landscaping fields to support his dream of being a successful skier. He made the national team in 2011 and was sponsored by Scotiabank after that.

Chances: Ranked 77th in the world overall, Thomsen is seen as a long shot to reach the podium.
