‘You shut up’ Rob Ford tells councillor

“You shut up.”

After saying that to Councillor Michael Thompson, Mayor Rob Ford’s microphone was cut off and he was threatened with removal from the chambers within minutes of city council getting underway Wednesday.

It’s difficult to hear what else Ford said to the Scarborough councillor due to shouts from other councillors and demands from speaker Frances Nunziata to “sit down” but at one point told Thompson to “take care of your constituents.”

“If you interrupt one more time I’m going to ask you to leave,” Nunziata told the mayor.

City council is beginning a marathon session Wednesday to determine the property tax rate for 2014. Ford has promised $50 million in savings and is expected to introduce motions detailing those measures Wednesday afternoon.
