Watch: Too cold to be outside in Montreal?
MONTREAL – Although electricity consumption was down slightly from Wednesday’s record breaking power use, Hydro-Quebec is asking residents to continue to limit their electricity use.
On Thursday morning, Quebecers used 38,340 megawatts of energy, down lightly from Thursday’s province-wide consumption record of 39,240 megawatts.

Until temperatures warm up again, Hydro-Quebec is urging Quebecers to continue to limit their power consumption during the peak morning hours of 6 a.m. and 9 a.m., and again in the evening from 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.
The utility company suggests residents turn down the thermostat by one or two degrees, reduce the use of hot water, and limit the use of appliances such as dishwashers, dryers and washing machines.
