The future, future, royals of England

Zara Phillips, pregnant with her first child with rugby player and husband Mike Tindall (R) arrive at Chapel Royal in St James's Palace in central London for the Christening of Prince George of Cambridge. She gave birth to a daughter on January 17, 2014.

Little Prince George has a new cousin to play with! With the announcement today of Zara Phillips and her husband Michael Tindall’s first child, a baby girl, The Queen now has four great-grandchildren. Anyone else notice the trend? Three of The Queen’s grandchildren are girls. Royal baby Tindall, whose name is yet to be released, now joins first cousins Savannah and Isla Phillips (the daughters of Peter Phillips and wife Autumn Kelly), along with second cousin Prince George (son of William and Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge).

What will these future, future, royals be like? One can only imagine how different their world will be one day from that of their great-grandmother’s. That said, I’m getting ahead of myself here. There’s no doubt, at this point in time, all that Mike and Zara are looking forward to doing is settling into their new role as parents.

Mike tweeted today, “Thanks so much for all your kind messages. Definitely the best day of my life today, so happy! The girls are both doing great!”
