UPDATE:  The family of a missing Prince Rupert man say the body found in a submerged vehicle near that North Coast city is that of Adam Moore. A Volkswagen Jetta belonging to the 26-year-old was pulled from Galloway Rapids just outside Prince Rupert yesterday, after searchers spotted car parts below a bridge on Sunday.

Police have not released the identity of the body in the car but Moore’s family has posted a Facebook message saying they have been contacted by the coroner’s office, confirming it is their loved one.

Moore was last seen on December 29th, prompting an extensive search of the Highway 16 corridor between Prince Rupert and Terrace.

When the car was removed from the water, investigators discovered the body of a deceased man.

Police have not released the name of the deceased person until identity has been confirmed by the BC Coroners Service.

The investigation is ongoing.

Moore has not been seen since Dec. 29, 2013.

He was reported missing on New Year’s Eve.

The person who reported Adam missing said they had last seen him on the evening of Dec. 28 and advised that Adam had been suffering from possible symptoms of depression.

Police then discovered he had been spotted in the area of the local 7-11 in Prince Rupert at about 3:15 a.m. on Dec. 29. Additional inquiries determined he may have driven to Terrace, but police were unable to verify this information.
