More flu vaccine arrives in Alberta to ease shortage

CALGARY- With some pharmacies running out of flu vaccine, a shipment of 60,000 doses has arrived in Alberta.

Alberta Health is still evaluating how to distribute it, but it says public vaccination clinics will get priority over pharmacies. Many Shoppers Drug Mart pharmacies ran out of the vaccine on Friday.

Flu clinics reopened Tuesday morning after shutting down on Monday because of high demand and extended clinic hours over the weekend. Click here for a list of locations.

So far the flu outbreak, which primarily involves the H1N1 strain, has led to ten deaths in Alberta with more than 300 people hospitalized.
