COLDSTREAM — There’s a fresh cougar hunt on in Coldstream.

Sgt. Josh Lockwood of Conservation says the cat was seen and photographed Sunday within 100 meters of Coldstream elementary.

“Officers attended yesterday were unable to resolve the situation and have set some live traps in the area,” says Lockwood.

He says they are patrolling the area to protect the kids headed to school, but are advising parents to either escort them or make sure they travel in groups and do not cut through green belt areas.

A three year old female cougar was destroyed last Friday in Coldstream.

Meantime, another cougar has been destroyed in the Coldstream area.

Lockwood says a three-year old male cougar was destroyed Saturday after killing a two goats in the Lewis Road area in Lavington.
