Hockey Canada to announce Olympic roster on Tuesday

TORONTO – Hockey Canada will unveil its 2014 Olympic team Tuesday morning at the Toronto Maple Leafs’ practice facility.

General manager Steve Yzerman, charged with making the final decisions on the 25-man squad, will be in attendance along with Canadian Olympic Committee president Marcel Aubut, Hockey Canada president and CEO Bob Nicholson and coach Mike Babcock, among others. Management staff members Doug Armstrong, Peter Chiarelli, Ken Holland and Kevin Lowe are also expected to attend.

The announcement will come on the day of the International Ice Hockey Federation’s new deadline, pushed back from the original Dec. 31 date. European countries are also expected to announce their rosters Tuesday, while the U.S. did so at the Winter Classic.

Hockey Canada will use its rink at the MasterCard Centre for Hockey Excellence as the scene for the announcement. It is open to the public to attend.
