Thousands dress as Santa for Serbian charity run

Almost two-thousand runners dressed up as Santa Claus on Sunday for the sixth annual charity run through the Serbian capital.

The runners took to Belgrade’s streets dressed in Santa’s red and white outfit, with many sporting white beards too.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

The first thousand participants to apply for the race got a Santa costume for free, the others brought their own outfit.

While some of those taking part in were professional runners, others used the opportunity to have fun on a sunny winter day.

The money raised by the event will help children with epidermolysis bullosa, a group of rare, inherited skin disorders that cause the skin to become very fragile.
