TORONTO – A snowmobile collision in Niagara has left two males dead and one female in hospital in life-threatening condition.
The accident happened Thursday evening in the Welland Canals Parkway Trail north of Thorold, Ontario.
Niagara Police discovered three individuals involved in the accident after responding to a call for help.
Police say the collision was caused by a tree that had recently fallen on the pathway.
Paramedics pronounced the two male drivers dead at the scene.
One of them was a 25-year-old Thorold man and the other, a 28-year-old man from St. Catharines.
The third victim, a 22-year-old St. Catharines woman, was treated and airlifted to Hamilton Health Sciences General Hospital in life-threatening condition.
Police in the Niagara Regional Services Reconstruction Unit said speed was not a factor in the collision, adding that all riders were wearing adequate helmets.
Anyone with information is being asked to contact investigators at (905) 688-4111, extension 5500.
