TORONTO – Up to six homes were evacuated as crews battled to contain a three-alarm fire in Leslieville early Friday morning.
The fire broke out around 7 a.m. on Laing Street near Queen Street East/Leslie Street and was knocked down an hour later.
Initial reports indicate the blaze started in the kitchen and that all occupants of the home got out safely. However, officials say one dog died.
Firefighters were concerned the fire would continue to spread to other adjacent units.
Reports also suggested a hydro line came down and crews were concerned that it may catch on fire.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
