Saskatchewan welcomes nearly 5,900 new residents this past quarter as province’s population hits all-time high. File / Global News

SASAKTOON – Saskatchewan continues to set new records when it comes to population.

As of Oct. 1, there were 1,114,170 people calling the province home.

This is an increase of nearly 5,900 in the previous three months and close to 19,800 over the past year.

The quarterly and annual growth rates in Saskatchewan were both second highest among provinces, behind only Alberta.

Brad Wall says he expects to see continued population and economic growth in 2014 even though provincial resource revenues will be down.
