Twenty-six people – including 20 children and four teachers – were shot and killed at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Conn. The gunman Adam Lanza, 20, committed suicide following the shooting. His mother was also found dead in their home.
January 21, 2013
In Alburquerque, N.M. fifteen-year-old Nehemiah Griego used his parents’ .22 caliber rifle and a semi-automatic rifle to kill his parents and three siblings. It was reported he had plans to continue his rampage by shooting up a Wal-Mart. He changed his mind and confessed to the shooting, telling police he had “anger issues.”

Ali Syed, 20, killed three people in Orange County, Calif. before killing himself. Police identified Syed as a community college student with no criminal history.
April 21, 2013
Dennis Clark III, 27, gunned down his girlfriend before going on a rampage, killing three other random victims. Clark had a license to carry a concealed weapon and had several clashes with police prior to the shooting.

Nineteen people were injured during a shooting at New Orleans’ Mother’s Day parade. The suspect, 19-year-old Akein Scott, fired into the crowd after making bail for illegal gun and heroin possession charges.

John Zawahri, 23, of Santa Monica, Calif. killed his brother and father before heading to Santa Monica College. At the college he killed one woman before he was eventually confronted by police and was shot and killed.

Pedro Vargas, 42, set fire to his South Florida apartment complex before going on a shooting spree that killed six people. He was fatally shot following a standoff with police.

A shooting in the Dallas area left four people dead and another four wounded at two separate homes. Police arrested Erbie Bowser in connection with the shooting.
Sept. 16, 2013
Twelve people are killed and three others injured in a shooting at the Washington Navy Yard. The alleged gunman, Aaron Alexis, 34, is killed in a shootout with police.
The FBI said Alexis left a note saying he was driven to kill after being tormented for months by extremely low-frequency radio waves.

Police said a lone shooter opened fire at the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) leaving several people injured and killing one Transportation Security Administration officer.
Paul Ciancia was arrested in the shooting and police say he was motivated by a hatred towards the TSA.

Police said two men were shot and killed, and one person injured in a shooting at a North Carolina university. Police said two suspects, 20-year-old Daniel Sheerer and 26-year-old Tony Knotts were taken into custody in connection with the shooting.
