Transit to Edmonton International starts Monday

A new transit line to shuttle commuters between south Edmonton, Leduc County and the international airport will begin daily routes on Nov. 1.

The C-Line will cost $5 one way, $4 for youth and seniors, with 15 different bus stops at Century Park, the airport, Nisku, and various points in Leduc. Monthly passes and ticket packs will also be available at discounted rates.

The C-Line is funded by the town of Leduc and Leduc County, though Edmonton Transit is the contracted service provider. The cost is $490,000 per year.

“Leduc now officially offers a commuter bus service to safely and efficiently connect our residents and workers with Nisku, Edmonton International Airport and Edmonton’s LRT system,” said Leduc Mayor Greg Krischke.

The routes will be run during peak commuter hours in the morning and afternoon.

The route begins in Century Park. The first bus leaves shortly after 5:30 a.m. directly for the airport, then goes to the Leduc County office in Nisku before looping through Leduc and returning to Edmonton.

In the afternoon, the route reverses, leaving shortly after 4 p.m. directly for Leduc, with a stop at the airport on the way to Edmonton.

Each bus on the route has room for 37 seated passengers, plus standing room, and is equipped with wireless Internet capability.

Tickets can be bought at the Leduc Civic Centre, Leduc County Centre and the Leduc Recreation Centre.
