Possible hostage situation prompted McDonnel Street closure in Peterborough: police

Peterborough police surrounded a McDonnel Street home by gunpoint following a possible hostage and firearm incident.
The Peterborough Police Service’s emergency response team responded around 6:10 a.m. on Labour Day Monday.
Several people were taken into custody but police say they have since been released.
Police determined there was no hostage situation. A firearm was not found at the home.
The area was cordoned off until 11:30 a.m. as police investigated.
