Push to densify housing around West Island train stations running up against local opposition

The highly-anticipated arrival of the REM has encouraged high-density development across the greater Montreal area. Many believe that repurposing vacated or under-utilized lots into mixed-use buildings will meet the demand for local housing and encourage people to use public transit. But as Felicia Parrillo reports, while the idea looks good on paper, not everyone wants it in their backyard.
