The Transportation Safety Board says the Ingenika tugboat was not up to the load it was hauling and the weather it faced as it set out on an ill-fated trip in February 2021 from Kitimat. Master Troy Pearson and deckhand Charlie Gragg died when the ship sank in gale force winds at Europa Point on B.C.’s North Coast. The TSB also criticized Transport Canada’s lax oversight of the industry. Paul Johnson reports.
