Two years ago, headlines in Canada noted a “dog shortage.”
People looking to adopt a pet, especially dogs, were in line with thousands of other Canadians with the same idea.
When 2021 began, the tide started to turn, with people slowly realizing either their post-pandemic schedule wouldn’t accommodate a pet, or, the new commitment of a companion at home wasn’t what they were expecting.
Shawn Morey is the Executive Director of the Humane Society of Peterborough, which is now at capacity of animals in its shelter. Teresa Kaszuba learns more on Global News Morning Peterborough.
