Speaking in the House of Commons, Interim Conservative Leader Candice Bergen on Wednesday called on the Liberal government to look into a potential tax cut and give Canadians a “break at the pumps,” citing U.S. President Joe Biden’s own push for Congress to put a three-month freeze on federal gas taxes. The call came as the annual inflation rate for Canada hit 7.7 per cent in May, the highest in almost 40 years.
