World Health Organization (WHO) director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warned on Tuesday of the potential dangers of people and countries underestimating the threat the Omicron COVID-19 variant poses, and dismissing it as a mild variant. Tedros said the virus spreads at levels never seen before and the number of cases will overwhelm health systems and called on people to not stop social distancing or proper hygiene or masking if they got vaccinated.
