WHO says 4 high-risk contacts identified after case of Marburg virus reported in Guinea

World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on Wednesday that 150 contacts, and four high-risk contacts, have been identified after a patient in Guinea was found to have the Marburg virus, marking the first time it has been reported in West Africa. Assistant Director-General of Emergency Response Dr. Ibrahima Socé Fall added that the recent discovery in Guinea has highlighted the need for local surveillance and research into emerging diseases.
