The Delta COVID-19 variant is now the dominant variant worldwide, accompanied by a surge of deaths around the U.S. almost entirely among unvaccinated people, top infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci said during a White House COVID-19 briefing on Friday. He added the variant has been detected in around 100 countries globally since June 2020.
