Toronto’s medical officer of health Dr. Eileen de Villa said on Monday that the U.K. COVID-19 variant was confirmed in an outbreak at Roberta Place, a nursing home in Barrie, Ont., where she said 127 residents and almost half the staff have tested positive, and 40 individuals have died. “This is a terrible price paid and a stark warning for the rest of us,” she added.
