UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced on Friday that new evidence suggested that the coronavirus variant first identified in the UK may be associated with a higher degree of mortality. Johnson also said that all evidence continues to show that the COVID-19 vaccine remains effective against the old and new variants of the coronavirus.
