Coronavirus: Trump says he didn’t lie to the American people when downplaying COVID-19 after Woodward tapes released

In a tense exchange with a reporter, U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday said he didn’t lie to the American people, after the release of the Bob Woodward tapes revealed he admitted to downplaying the threat-level of the novel coronavirus, because the nation had to be “calm” and “not panicked” amid the pandemic. Trump mentioned that the seasonal flu can also be deadly, like COVID-19.
