Coronavirus outbreak: Garneau says airlines facing ‘very tough times’ as customers hope for refunds

When asked to ensure that Canadian airlines, like Air Canada, would refund customers whose travel plans were cancelled due to the pandemic, Transportation Minister Marc Garneau said he understands people’s frustrations but that airlines are “facing very tough times.” This comes after Air Canada announced mass layoffs to “preserve cash flow.”
