Coronavirus outbreak: Newfoundland says potential impact of 3M stopping shipments ‘not immediately clear,’ looking into other sources for PPE

When asked about the potential repercussions of Minnesota-based medical supply firm 3M stopping shipments of supplies to Canada amid the COVID-19 outbreak, Newfoundland and Labrador’s minister of health John Haggie said on Sunday that the impact on the province is “not immediately clear,” and that “the issue in the States is one that is totally unpredictable.” He said they will be looking into multiple sources for personal protective equipment (PPE) instead of relying solely on manufactures in the U.S. On Friday, 3M stated that U.S. President Donald Trump ordered them not to export N95 masks to Canada.
