Coronavirus outbreak: Uncertain future for remaining passengers aboard the Grand Princess

California Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency Wednesday after a 71-year old man died from the coronavirus in Placer County, the first such death in the state. Authorities said the man had been on a cruise ship, the Grand Princess, last month. He was hospitalized when he returned to San Francisco from Mexico. Another passenger of the same ship has also tested positive in Sonoma County. The 62 passengers that stayed on board from Mexico to San Francisco and on to Hawaii are now being asked to stay in their staterooms until they can be screened.
