On Wednesday, Foreign Affairs Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne and Federal Health Minister Patty Hajdu stated that the Canadians who tested positive for COVID-19 while on board the Diamond Princess cruise ship will be treated “locally” in Japan in order to help them “heal more quickly” and to “reduce the risk of continued spread” of the virus.
