The World Health Organization on Thursday declared the outbreak of the novel coronavirus an international public health emergency. The main reason for the declaration, said Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, is “not because of what’s happening in China;” rather it’s because of what’s happening in other countries, while the potential remains for the virus to spread to nations with weak health systems that are ill prepared to deal with this coronavirus.
